During the 2022 recruiting cycle, the 6-foot-2 safety was a four-star recruit and the seventh-ranked prospect in the state of Michigan. He recorded 19 games, 73 tackles, and four interceptions during his two years at Michigan State.
Mangham started ten games as a sophomore in 2017 and was recognized by coaches and the media as an honorable mention All-Big Ten player.
In a defeat to Michigan in the previous season, Mangham recorded five tackles and a pass break.
