NEW ORLEANS—
A New Orleans Pelicans player has received a major NBA award.
Herb Jones was named to the NBA’s All Defensive Team, one of just five players to receive this award.

Jones is the first Pelican to join the team since Jrue Holiday and Anthony Davis were announced in 2018.
He’s only the fourth Pelican to receive this award.
With Jones’ assistance, the Pelicans finished in the top six in the league in terms of defense last season.
According to the Pelicans, previous to Jones being picked No. 35 overall in 2021, New Orleans had finished between 21st and 23rd in defensive efficiency.
