According to reports, three NRL teams are vying for the signature of 2025’s in-form back rower Angus Crichton.
When Crichton’s current contract expires this season, two months ago, there would have been little chance that he would stay with the Roosters. However, the 27-year-old has been playing brilliantly, and the Tricolours are eager to sign him to an extension.
Apart from the Roosters, News Corp reports that Crichton’s previous team, South Sydney, has also shown interest, along with the reigning champions, Penrith.
The Roosters’ unsuccessful pursuit of David Fifita, who pulled out of a pact with the Bondi-based team to stay with the Titans, added intrigue to the scenario.
Crichton was open about how angry he was with the club keeping him in the dark as well as the Roosters’ pursuit of Fifita.
Given that Fifita is staying put, it is not surprising that the Roosters are eager to extend Crichton, who has emerged as the league’s best back row player in the last four to five weeks and is a strong candidate to start for the Blues in Game I.
Many of Crichton’s teammates, like as Victor Radley and Terrell May, have stated in the open that they want him to stay with the Roosters.
