Seven Blue Devils players—Jeremy Roach, Mark Mitchell, TJ Power, Jaylen Blakes, Christian Reeves, Jaden Schutt, and Stewart—have left the team due to the transfer portal. Earlier this month, Duke players Kyle Filipowski and Jared McCain announced their candidacies for the 2024 NBA Draft. Both athletes are being discussed as potential lottery winners for this summer.

The third year of the Jon Scheyer program at Duke will look very different. Before the 2023–24 season, the Blue Devils brought back four starters, and they made it to the NCAA Tournament’s second round for the first time since Mike Krzyzewski’s departure. The arrival of the top-ranked recruiting class will only raise the Blue Devils’ already lofty standards.

Tyrese Proctor and Caleb Foster, two returners, are expected to start for Duke in the backcourt in 2024–25. Proctor made the decision to return for a second season in order to improve his stock ahead of the 2023 NBA Draft, skipping the draft in favor of returning to school for his sophomore year.

In Duke’s highly anticipated 2023 recruiting class, which came in second place to Kentucky in the 247Sports rankings, Foster was a standout prospect. Foster could play a bigger part before the upcoming season since that McCain and Roach are no longer involved with the show.
