Boston Bruins GM Don Sweeney clarified that one of his priorities this offseason is to add to the team’s scoring. There is no question that the Bruins could use another high-impact sniper, as their scoring woes played a significant role in their second-round exit to the Florida Panthers.

When looking at this year’s free agency class, some quality wingers could hit the market. However, when looking at the Bruins’ needs, one of the wingers they should seriously focus on is Vegas Golden Knights forward Jonathan Marchessault.

Marchessault, 33, is coming off an outstanding season with Vegas. In 82 games, the sniper scored a career-high 42 goals and posted 69 points. The Bruins adding that kind of production to their top six would be massive.

Marchessault is also known for improving his performance during the playoffs. In 2023, he was awarded the Conn Smythe after the Golden Knights won the Stanley Cup. He was electric that postseason, recording 13 goals and 25 points in 22 games.

While the Bruins’ No. 1 need is to add a first-line center, they have a good amount of money to work with this offseason and have the potential to make a splash on the wing as well. Bringing in Marchessault would be just that.

We will need to wait and see if the Bruins make a strong push for the skilled winger this offseason from here.
