Brian Snitker was named manager of the Atlanta Braves on Tuesday after serving as interim manager at the close of the 2016 season.

The Braves announced the employment on Tuesday, after FoxSports.com’s Ken Rosenthal reported Monday that he was the front-runner for the full-time position.

The 60-year-old coaching veteran, who has coached throughout the Braves’ minor league system, told Mark Bowman of MLB.com on September 28 that he would like to hold the job in 2017 and beyond, but general manager John Coppolella refused to commit to anything.

“[Snitiker] has been outstanding on and off the field,” Coppolella stated. “He’s been just what we needed right now. We will continue to evaluate.
