Wild’s Matt Boldy had a tremendous tournament for Team USA, but his hopes of capturing a gold medal were dashed when they lost 1-0 to Czechia in the quarterfinals.

The United States’ gold medal drought in the Men’s World Championships will extend to 92 years. Despite the loss, Boldy was awarded the top player in the tournament for the United States, along with two others.

Brady Tkachuk of the Ottawa Senators and Zach Werenski of the Columbus Blue Jackets were both named to the USA’s top players list.

Boldy now leads the competition in points with 14 through eight games. He recorded six goals and eight assists. Tkachuk finished with seven goals and thirteen points. Switzerland’s Kevin Fiala or Nico Hischier may threaten Boldy for the tournament lead.
