The Boston Bruins have had a busy offseason, but they are not done yet. Star goaltender Jeremy Swayman is still a restricted free agent at this juncture, and the Bruins must get him re-signed.
Given Swayman’s incredible regular season and even better postseason, he is naturally set to get a significant raise from his previous $3.475 million cap hit.
In a recent mailbag for NHL.com, Dan Rosen wrote that Swayman’s asking price for his next deal will likely depend on the term. Rosen noted that Swayman could ask for less than $9 million per season if signed to an eight-year deal. However, he also addressed the possibility that the Alaska native could expect over $9 million or even $10 million if signed to a five-year or six-year contract.
