Former Broncos First-Round Pick Signs With Titans
The Tennessee Titans have strengthened their roster with a number of significant offseason acquisitions.
Along with Pro Bowl running back Tony Pollard, they signed receivers Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd, both of whom had 1,000 yards or more.
They also acquired and signed cornerback L’Jarius Snead, a two-time Super Bowl champion.
It seems like the squad is still adding defensive players.
Insider Ari Meirov reports that the Titans are signing edge rusher Shane Ray, who is 31 years old.
Most famously, Ray spent four seasons (2015–2018) playing for the Denver Broncos, where he won a Super Bowl as a rookie in 2015.
In 2022, the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL and the former SEC Defensive Player of the Year at Missouri shared a Grey Cup victory.
Though he has been on the practice squads of the Buffalo Bills (2023) and the Baltimore Ravens (2019), he has not been able to find much success in the NFL since his time in Denver.
He now has another chance to attempt to succeed in the NFL.
With eight starts, eight sacks, and twenty-one quarterback hits in his greatest season with Denver in 2016, Ray has 94 total tackles and 14 lifetime sacks in his NFL career.
It might be difficult for Ray to reach the final roster out of camp with Pro Bowler Harold Landry III and former Super Bowl champion Sebastian Joseph-Day patrolling the edges of the defense.
There isn’t much more after that, though, so hiring a troubled veteran would be a wise choice for Tennessee.
