First reported by Adam Himmelsbach of the Boston Globe, the Boston Celtics have signed Anton Watson to a two-way contract. The reigning NBA champions drafted the former Zag with the 54th pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft…..
It took a while but the deal is finally done. The information wasn’t disclosed but a standard two-way contract can be somewhere in the ballpark of $500K-$600K which is half of the rookie minimum. Watson will be splitting his time with the Boston Celtics and the G-League affiliate Maine Celtics. He’s eligible to appear in up to 50 NBA games but can’t suit up for the playoffs.
He had a strong summer league performance in Las Vegas with the Celtics. Watson averaged 11.8 PPG on 51.1 FG%/35.0 3PT%/85.7 FT% to go with 5.2 RPG in five games. What really stood out was his defensive versatility and the strength/physicality he plays with on that side of the floor. Becoming more of a consistent offensive threat (especially being dependable from beyond) is going to be the main focus to improve upon while Watson is down in the G-League.
