DONE DEAL: Premier League defender sign £3m contract with Celtic Fc

Celtic have made a great start to the season so far but it is way too early to get carried away. There is a lot of work to be done and hopefully, quite a few more additions will be made to this squad before the summer transfer window closes. One of the positions where the club do need to strengthen is left-back.

Greg Taylor is the only real option available at left-back to Brendan Rodgers right now. Admittedly, he has been a solid presence there. But at a club like Celtic, there always needs to be competition for places.

Celtic were linked with a loan move for Hugo Bueno but he has joined Feyenoord on a temporary basis instead. There has recently been talk of interest in Owen Wijndal of Ajax as well. And another player on their radar is Owen Beck of Liverpool.

As reported by Football Insider, Celtic want to sign Beck on a permanent basis. Liverpool want a £3 million transfer fee for the player.

Beck spent the previous season on loan at Dundee FC. So, he already knows what to expect in the Scottish Premiership and the adjustment period would be shorter as a result.

Beck was pretty impressive on loan and Celtic were rumoured to be interested in signing him in the winter itself. But he ended up making an appearance for Liverpool, which made that an impossibility and the left-back ended up returning to Dundee FC on another temporary spell.

Beck is a decent talent for sure but his prospects of getting first-team chances at Liverpool anytime soon are slim to none. As a result, a move away from Anfield might very well be the right step for his career. Will Celtic Park be his next destination?
