SEYMOUR, Ind. (WDRB) — Months after a teenager was found dead in Seymour, officials have released his cause of death. Seymour Police Lt. C.J. Foster said two teenagers were found unconscious inside a small SUV in a parking lot on Shields Avenue in January.
Police said a 16-year-old Seymour boy, Pascual Felipe-Miguel, was found dead. An 18-year-old was also found inside the car. Police said she survived and was taken to the hospital.
From the beginning, police said there were no signs of obvious trauma to either teen and believed carbon monoxide poisoning was a contributing factor in the 16-year-old’s death.
Thursday, Foster said police have the coroner’s report. He said it reveals the teen’s cause of death is carbon monoxide poisoning.
“We did do some local testing on the vehicle and under the hood of the vehicle and in the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Within just a few seconds — no more than 20 seconds — there was high levels of carbon monoxide in the car,” said Foster.
