Francesco Farioli, the 35-year-old Italian football manager, has been appointed as the new head coach of Ajax Amsterdam. He signed a three-year contract with the Eredivisie club on May 23, 2024, succeeding John van ‘t Schip.

Prior to joining Ajax, Farioli managed French club OGC Nice, where he implemented a possession-based style of play that garnered attention for its distinctiveness and effectiveness.

Since his appointment, Farioli has revitalized Ajax’s performance, leading the team to eight victories in nine matches. Notably, he introduced innovative motivational methods, including a visit to the club’s museum to instill a deeper understanding of Ajax’s rich history among the players.

Under Farioli’s guidance, Ajax has demonstrated a strong commitment to possession-based football, emphasizing quick passing and movement, along with a high defensive line and proactive pressing.

In recent developments, veteran midfielder Jordan Henderson reaffirmed his commitment to Ajax, addressing earlier speculation about his potential departure. Henderson confirmed his intention to remain at the club, expressing satisfaction with his role under Farioli’s leadership.

As of February 14, 2025, Ajax continues to perform strongly in the Eredivisie, with Farioli’s leadership playing a pivotal role in the team’s success.
