In recent developments concerning the Alabama Crimson Tide men’s basketball team, the program has experienced a significant roster change with the departure of a key player. Forward Nick Pringle, a 6-foot-9 senior from Seabrook, South Carolina, entered the transfer portal, signaling his intent to seek opportunities elsewhere for his final year of eligibility.
Pringle joined Alabama ahead of the 2022-23 season, transferring from Dodge City Community College, where he had a standout year. In his two seasons with the Crimson Tide, Pringle played in a combined 70 games, starting 16. During the 2023-24 season, he averaged 6.8 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 0.7 blocks per game, contributing to Alabama’s deep run in the NCAA tournament.
His decision to enter the transfer portal adds to a series of roster adjustments for Alabama. Prior to Pringle’s departure, three other scholarship players—Rylan Griffen, Kris Parker, and Davin Cosby—also entered the portal, reflecting the dynamic nature of college basketball rosters.
These departures come on the heels of a transformative offseason for Alabama, which saw the addition of five highly touted transfers: guard Aden Holloway from Auburn, guard Houston Mallette from Pepperdine, center Clifford Omoruyi from Rutgers, guard Labaron Philon, and guard Chris Youngblood from South Florida. This influx of talent is part of head coach Nate Oats’ strategic efforts to bolster the team’s competitiveness on a national level.
As the Crimson Tide navigates these roster changes, the coaching staff will focus on integrating new talent while addressing the gaps left by departing players. The upcoming season holds promise, with a blend of experienced transfers and returning players aiming to build on the team’s recent successes.
