Sean Payton: Denver Broncos ‘Are Gonna Be a Problem’ in 2025 & Beyond

The Denver Broncos are no longer flying under the radar—at least, not if head coach Sean Payton has anything to say about it. In a bold statement that’s turning heads across the league, Payton declared that his team “is going to be a problem” in the 2025 NFL season and beyond.
The comment came during a recent press conference where Payton didn’t hold back his optimism about the team’s future. After years of rebuilding, the Broncos appear to be entering a new era—one Payton believes will shake up the AFC West and challenge the NFL’s elite.
“We’ve been putting the pieces in place, and now it’s about execution,” Payton said. “This group is going to be a problem—for a lot of teams.”
His confidence doesn’t come out of nowhere. After taking over the team in 2023, Payton’s influence has already led to noticeable improvements. Denver finished the 2024 season with a respectable record, showing flashes of brilliance despite a roster still in transition. With a full offseason under his leadership and a solid draft class incoming, expectations are rising fast in the Mile High City.
Central to the Broncos’ rise is their young, promising core. Quarterback Jarrett Stidham, who showed significant growth late in the 2024 season, is expected to lead the offense. Alongside him are explosive weapons like wide receiver Marvin Mims Jr. and running back Javonte Williams, who are set to play pivotal roles in Payton’s offensive scheme.
Defensively, the Broncos are equally poised to make noise. With playmakers like Patrick Surtain II anchoring the secondary and a revamped pass rush, Denver could once again field one of the more formidable defenses in the league.
“Everyone’s bought in,” Payton emphasized. “We’re not just building a team—we’re building a culture, a standard. And we’re not far off from where we want to be.”
The Broncos’ recent moves in free agency have also added fuel to the fire. Strategic signings and a focus on youth development suggest a long-term plan aimed at sustained success, not just a single breakout season. Payton’s resume—with a Super Bowl title and a long history of offensive innovation—only adds credibility to his claim.
Of course, challenges remain. The AFC West is still one of the most competitive divisions in football, with the Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, and Las Vegas Raiders all vying for supremacy. But with Payton’s leadership and a motivated roster, Denver looks ready to re-enter the conversation as serious contenders.
As the 2025 season approaches, all eyes will be on the Broncos to see if they can back up their coach’s bold words. One thing is certain: Sean Payton isn’t planning to sneak into the playoffs—he’s aiming to storm the gates.
“We’re coming,” he said with a grin. “And we’re going to be a problem.”
