BREAKING NEWS: Jarin Stevenson Transfers from Alabama to North Carolina, Shaking Up Crimson Tide Frontcourt

In a major offseason move, Alabama forward Jarin Stevenson has announced his transfer to the University of North Carolina, returning to his home state after a solid freshman campaign with the Crimson Tide.

Stevenson, a 6-foot-11 forward originally from Chapel Hill, North Carolina, played in all 37 games for Alabama last season, averaging 5.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and shooting efficiently in limited minutes. He also had a standout performance in the Elite Eight against Clemson, scoring a season-high 19 points.

The move marks a homecoming for Stevenson, whose family has strong ties to the UNC program. His mother, Nicole Walker Stevenson, was a star on the Tar Heels women’s basketball team in the late ‘90s, and his father, Jarod Stevenson, played collegiate and international basketball.

Initially choosing Alabama for its fast-paced style and development opportunities, Stevenson now heads to UNC, where he’s expected to make an immediate impact in a frontcourt that is retooling for a deep tournament run.

This transfer is a significant loss for Alabama, which is also navigating roster changes under head coach Nate Oats. With Stevenson gone, the Tide will look to incoming talent and other portal additions to fill the void left by his departure.

For North Carolina, Stevenson adds size, mobility, and a high ceiling—making the Tar Heels a team to watch in the upcoming season.
