
Today, April 22, 2025, marks the 64th birthday of Jeff Hostetler, the former NFL quarterback renowned for his resilience and leadership on the field.
Born in Hollsopple, Pennsylvania, in 1961, Hostetler’s NFL career spanned 15 seasons, during which he played for the New York Giants, Los Angeles/Oakland Raiders, and Washington Redskins. He is perhaps best remembered for leading the Giants to a victory in Super Bowl XXV in 1991, stepping in as the starting quarterback after an injury to Phil Simms and guiding the team to a 20–19 win over the Buffalo Bills.
Hostetler joined the Raiders in 1993, immediately making an impact by leading the team to the playoffs in his first season. Over four seasons with the Raiders, he started 55 games, amassing 11,122 passing yards and 69 touchdowns, placing him among the top passers in the franchise’s history.
Off the field, Hostetler is known for his strong family values and community involvement. He resides in Morgantown, West Virginia, where he has been active in various business ventures and charitable activities.
