JUST IN: FBI Fatally Shoots Baldwin County Militia Leader During Warrant Operation

GULF SHORES, AL โ€” The FBI has confirmed the fatal shooting of Alexander Hilton Randles, a self-proclaimed militia leader, during a warrant service in Gulf Shores. The incident occurred on December 13, 2024, at the Colonial Grand at Traditions apartment complex.

Randles, a military veteran and business owner in Baldwin County, had been under federal investigation for threats made against local and national officials. According to court records, he had publicly called for an โ€œunorganized militiaโ€ to arrest individuals he claimed were guilty of insurrection. His social media posts set a deadline for these officials to surrender, warning of violent consequences if they did not comply.

FBI agents encountered Randles while attempting to serve an arrest warrant. Randles was reportedly armed at the time, though it remains unclear if he fired at agents. He was shot and killed at the scene. No law enforcement personnel were injured.

The FBI has launched an internal review, standard procedure following agent-involved shootings. Authorities also revealed that Randles had a history of mental health concerns and had previously reported feeling targeted by domestic terrorists.

This incident has reignited discussions about the growing threat of homegrown extremism and how law enforcement navigates cases involving both ideological beliefs and mental health issues.
