New Orleans Saints quarterback Jameis Winston made a controversial audible with his team in victory formation that resulted in his team scoring a touchdown.
It’s a move that resulted in anger from his opposition – especially the now-fired Atlanta Falcons head coach Arthur Smith – and has resulted in many discussions throughout the world of football.
After the game, Winston said that it was a ‘team decision’ to change out of victory formation to hand off the ball to Jamaal Williams for a touchdown – his only score of the season.
The Saints reportedly wanted Williams to get that TD, but head coach Dennis Allen told them to kneel the ball down. Winston changed the play in accordance with what the rest of the team wanted and apologized to Allen – but says he doesn’t regret handing the ball off.
On Monday morning’s episode of First Take on ESPN, commentator Shannon Sharpe said that the situation ‘makes Dennis Allen look like he’s lost control of that locker room’.
