Mark Robins admits Coventry City’s leading scorer in the league Haji Wright is a doubt for this weekend’s big M69 derby with Leicester. The Sky Blues boss had given a more positive prognosis on Friday, ahead of the FA Cup third round tie against Oxford United after the player felt pain in his groin at Middlesbrough, forcing him off the field of play.
The 25-year-old limped off at the Riverside Stadium on New Year’s Day after scoring his eighth goal of the season to help his team to a 3-1 win. The match came as City’s fourth in the space ten days, during which time the USA striker started every game, playing 90 minutes against Sheffield Wednesday and Swansea, and going off as a late substitute in the last ten minutes against Sunderland and Boro.
Providing an update on his condition ahead of Saturday’s FA Cup match, Robins said: “He’s OK. He just had a feeling of some pain in his adductor muscles, but he’s OK. Obviously when we speak about the games that we’ve had and the accumulation of fixtures it can make people feel a bit tired. The fatigue plays a part but he’s OK. He’s been off loaded this week but he’s definitely in good spirits.”
