Trent Barrett, the interim coach for the Parramatta Eels, has declared his full-time interest in the role.

Barrett told 2GB’s Continuous Call Team on Saturday that his experience in Parramatta was “completely different” from elsewhere.

Barrett has previously served as head coach for Manly and the Bulldogs before joining the Eels to work under Brad Arthur last year.

“Yeah,” came the reply. “I didn’t want to say too much the first few weeks. It’s always a hard one when you’re very close to the head coach and there’s movement there,” Barrett said.

“But we’ve all got to move forward as well and it’s something that I’ve really enjoyed.

“Parramatta is a really good club, it’s a very stable club and we’ve got a good side. I’ve found this experience completely different to the last two I’ve had.”

Barrett is believed to be on a shortlist alongside Jason Ryles, Michael Cheika, Josh Hannay and Michael Maguire.

While Ryles is believed to be the favourite, Barrett said he’s in the best position to audition.
