A clear and sounding news Florida DB made his final decision to join

Sophomore Florida safety Kamari Wilson announced his transfer to Arizona State on Saturday.

Wilson, a native of Fort Pierce, Fla., joined the Gators in the recruiting class of 2022 and entered the NCAA transfer portal on Dec. 4 after two seasons with the team.

Wilson had 40 tackles, 1.5 for loss, one forced fumble, and one pass breakup in 16 games with the Gators. He appeared in 13 games as a true freshman but only three in 2023, earning him a redshirt this year and giving him three seasons of eligibility with the Sun Devils.

“My family and I came to the decision for myself to redshirt after the third game this season so that I could retain another season of eligibility,” Wilson said on social media on Dec. 7, commenting on the situation for the first time. “My decision was not influenced by any outside factors that were mentioned.” I have the utmost respect for the Gators’ coaching staff; I just felt like it was time for a change!”

Wilson joins quarterback Max Brown (Charlotte), wide receiver Caleb Douglas (Texas Tech), tight end Jonathan Odom (Eastern Michigan), and edge rusher Princely Umanmielen (Ole Miss) as the fifth Florida player to announce a transfer this offseason.

This offseason, 16 members of Florida’s 2023 roster have entered the NCAA transfer portal.
