Kareem Hunt Gives 4-Word Statement on Returning to Browns

Kareem Hunt appears to have every intention of returning to the Cleveland Browns next season, assuming they have him.

Hunt and the rest of the Browns cleaned out their lockers on Sunday, following a disappointing 45-14 loss to the Houston Texans. Hunt has spent the previous five seasons with the Browns and would like to return to his hometown team.

“I’m not going nowhere,” Hunt said, according to Associated Press reporter Tom Withers.

Hunt was not as certain about his future as the four-word statement suggested. He did say, however, that as a free agent, he will look into what is available to him this offseason. Hunt signed a one-year contract with the Browns in September, after Nick Chubb suffered a season-ending knee injury.

However, his ideal situation would be to return to the Browns and help them win the Super Bowl.

“If the opportunity arises and it is right here, I would be open to returning. Hunt said, “It’s my hometown, and I want nothing more than to help them win the Super Bowl.” “It’s my ultimate hope that no matter what, even if I’m playing for another team, they bring a championship to Cleveland, which is my hometown. If that happened, I would probably be at the parade cheering them on as well. I wish the organization and the Cleveland Browns nothing but success, and I’m grateful for the opportunity to be a part of this journey for so long.”

Hunt is no longer the bell-cow that he once was. He did, however, make an impact in the Browns’ split backfield with Jerome Ford. Hunt finished the season with 411 yards on 135 carries, averaging a pedestrian 3.0 yards per attempt. He made his most significant contributions in short yardage situations.

Hunt had a team-high nine rushing touchdowns in the regular season and added two more — one receiving and one rushing — in the Wild Card loss to the Texans.

Hunt was highly valued by the Browns upon his return, as head coach Kevin Stefanski discussed in detail during his exit interview on Sunday.

“I’m very appreciative of him and the way he played and the style he played,” Stefanski said. “Prior to Nick’s injury, we did not have a spot. But, to Kareem’s credit, he remained in excellent shape; we brought him in, worked him out, and he looked great. Picked up the system right away and played excellent football for us. He made plays in high-pressure situations and scored touchdowns.
