The Bills defeated the Pittsburgh Steelers by a score of 31-17 in the wild card round. Josh Allen led the way for Buffalo with three touchdown passes and another one on the ground, which just so happened to be a 52-yard touchdown run which made the game 21-0.
The Bills victory means they will face a familiar face in the divisional round. They host the Kansas City Chiefs at Highmark Stadium this Sunday at 6:30 pm. It will wrap up the divisional round for th
game will be the eighth meeting between the two teams since the 2020 season, which is amazing considering the fact they are not in the same division. Third meeting in the postseason for this current Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen-led teams.
However, this will be the first ever road playoff game for Mahomes. It’s also the first time that Mahomes and this current Bills team will be playing inside Highmark Stadium with fans. Remember, when the Chiefs visited Orchard Park in 2020, that was the COVID-19 season. The stadium was empty.
However, some bad news for the Bills and their fans.
The official assignments for this weekend has been revealed. The Chiefs-Bills game will be getting Shawn Hochuli’s crew…
Hochuli is known for calling a penalty-filled game. He’s called 347 yards in penalties on the Bills in the last four games he’s officiated for them. He’s also the head official for Bills game in Philadelphia, where the crew missed an obvious horse-collar tackle on Josh Allen, which likely would have resulted in a red zone touchdown.
Hochuli is 8-2 when officiating Chiefs games, including last year’s game vs. the Jacksonville Jaguars in the AFC Divisional round.
The other bit of bad news for the Bills are the injuries.
The Bills did not have cornerback Rasul Douglas, linebacker Tyrel Dodson, safety Taylor Rapp and Gabe Davis did not play against the Steelers.
During the game, the Bills lost:
- Terrel Bernard (ankle)
- Taron Johnson (concussion)
- Christian Benford (knee)
- Baylon Spector (back)
- Sam Martin (hamstring; returned)
Head coach Sean McDermott said that everyone is on a day-to-day process and they will “see how the week unfolds.”
The Bills need Taron Johnson to play. If he doesn’t play and God forbid Rasul Douglas also doesn’t play, it will be extremely difficult for them to overcome that against the Chiefs.
