Joao Felix to Chelsea: Blues in talks over shock striker return after Samu Omorodion deal collapses | Evening Standard

Entering the week in which the Premier League returns, Villa were hopeful of coming to an accord for a player Unai Emery is eager to work with – former Golden Boy award winner Felix. Cast aside by Atletico Madrid, his exit seems all but certain before August 30’s deadline and Villa Park looked an increasingly likely destination – at least before Chelsea barged their rivals aside with the shock.

The club with which the 24-year-old spent the last half of the 2022/23 campaign on loan are said to have entered negotiations over the player’s permanent capture on the back of talks collapsing over an alternative deal for the transfer of Samuel Omorodion. Now, in an update Villa did not wish to hear, Felix is thought to have agreed to a Stamford Bridge return.
