The Florida State Seminoles community is deeply saddened by the passing of Coach Robert “Bob” Williams, a beloved figure in the history of the university’s football program. Coach Williams, who led the Seminoles to multiple bowl games and was known for his inspiring leadership and dedication, passed away on September 10, 2024, at the age of 78 after a long battle with illness.
Coach Williams, who served as head coach from 1985 to 1998, was a key figure in shaping the Seminoles’ football legacy. His tenure was marked by numerous victories and a profound impact on both his players and the university community. Under his guidance, Florida State secured a national championship and several conference titles, leaving an indelible mark on the program.
In a statement, Florida State University President Dr. Emily Carter expressed the university’s grief: “Coach Williams was more than just a coach; he was a mentor, a leader, and a cherished part of our Seminole family.
