AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — The Texas Longhorns have officially signed one of the best cornerbacks in the 2024 class, Santana Wilson of Desert Mountain (Scottsdale, Ariz.), who signed during the early signing period on Wednesday.
Wilson was pursued by other teams, including Arizona State and Washington, and made official visits to both, but the Longhorns proved irresistible.
Wilson had 32 tackles, one tackle for loss, one sack, ten pass breakups, one forced fumble, and three interceptions last season.
The signing of Wilson adds to the excitement surrounding the Longhorns’ cornerback prospects, which already include Malik Muhammad and Terrance Brook.

“When I came out I just got the real family feeling and I knew this was the place I can call home,” Wilson told ESPN. “Then on top of that the facility and just the way everyone is always together and caring for one another.”
Wilson cited Longhorns defensive backs coach Terry Joseph as a primary reason for his decision to attend Texas.
“Definitely Terry Joseph,” Wilson confirmed to On3. “I mean, it’s really everyone on the defensive staff because my father knows everyone up here and I know they’ll look after me.” TJ essentially took me under his wing. Press the man corner button. That’s how they’re moving right now. They enjoy one-on-one press man matchups, which I enjoy.”
With Wilson and Kobe Black, the Longhorns have some major secondary talent in this recruiting class, and both will look to carve out roles for the Texas defense as early as next season.
