Former Alabama Cornerback Transfer

Lane Kiffin’s cryptic tweets about Tuscaloosa become a lot more clear as the corner jumps to SEC rival.

During the current offseason cycle, seven Alabama Crimson Tide defensive backs have transferred. Trey Amos, a former Alabama cornerback, announced his transfer decision Friday night.

According to On3 Sports, Amos will remain in the Southeastern Conference by transferring to the Ole Miss Rebels with one year of eligibility remaining.

The 6’1 197 DB totaled 12 tackles and 6 passes defended in 2023.

Will have one year of eligibility remaining.

Amos moved to Alabama from Louisiana, where he played three seasons for the Rajun’ Cajuns. He started only one game for the Crimson Tide but appeared in all 14 in 2023, recording 12 tackles and six passes defended.

His most memorable moment of the season came in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game, when he defended Brock Bowers in the end zone after replacing the injured Kool-Aid McKinstry.

The 6-foot-1 cornerback was expected to play a significant role in Tuscaloosa in 2024, but opted to transfer to Ole Miss and continue his college career under defensive coordinator Pete Golding.

Amos is not the only cornerback who has recently announced plans to play in Oxford. Brandon Turnage, a former Alabama and Tennessee cornerback, took to social media to announce his intention to play for the Rebels.

Lane Kiffin, Ole Miss’ head football coach, was his usual self on social media on Wednesday, indicating he was in Tuscaloosa. The former Crimson Tide offensive coordinator’s trip to town appears to have been a success, as Amos has committed to play for the Rebels.

Alabama and Ole Miss do not play each other in 2024. It will be the first time since 1991 that the two schools do not meet during the regular season.
