DETROIT — The MLB trade deadline is just hours away, and the Detroit Tigers are expected to be one of the more active clubs on Tuesday.
New team president Scott Harris has only a few hours left to deal starting pitchers Eduardo Rodriguez and Michael Lorenzen, both of whom are attracting interest from contenders.
Lorenzen is on a one-year contract with Detroit, and Rodriguez can opt out after the season. This means that both players are two-month rentals who will be free agents this offseason.
RODRIGUEZ NIXES TRADE: The Tigers and Dodgers agreed to a trade involving Eduardo Rodriguez, but he invoked his no-trade clause, therefore the deal was canceled, according to multiple reports.
Morosi stated that the Dodgers, Braves, Reds, Orioles, Marlins, and Diamondbacks are among the teams still hunting for starting pitching.
The Tigers are close to trading Michael Lorenzen to the Phillies, according to MLB Network’s Jon Morosi.
According to Morosi, the return includes infield prospect Hao-Yu Lee.
