He is likely to command a low salary, having recently signed a three-year contract with Cincinnati worth $7.25 million per year, according to Spotrac. While Ballard is not one to spend money, Awuzie would be a cost-effective alternative that may pay out handsomely.
The former NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year (2019) has seen a drop in output since his explosive debut season with the Pittsburgh Steelers. After four seasons on Mike Tomlin’s defense, the organization allowed him to test free agency, and he signed with the Seattle Seahawks for a one-year contract worth $3.5 million, according to Spotrac.
Bush played 13 games (three starts) in 2023, totaling 37 tackles, five tackles for loss, and a 56.3 coverage grade, according to Pro Football Focus.
