A smart move as the Detroit Tigers receive excellent news on  player ailment.

The Detroit Tigers have already signed Jack Flaherty and Kenta Maeda this offseason, but they have also received positive news internally about Casey Mize’s health.

The Detroit Tigers have already signed starting pitchers Jack Flaherty and Kenta Maeda this offseason, and now they have good news about a player they already have in the clubhouse.

According to Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press:

Detroit Tigers' Casey Mize Continues to Inch Forward in Return From Tommy John Surgery

Casey Mize, the 2018 No. 1 overall pick, has healed from elbow and back surgeries.

He has not pitched for the #Tigers since April 14, 2022.

Innings, splitter, and command are all subjects to keep note on when he returns to the mound.

When the Tigers started their last rebuild, they elected to build around young starting pitching. They drafted Mize, Matt Manning and Tarik Skubal, but none has been able to stay healthy for very long at the big league level.
