LATEST NEWS: Steelers reveal QB injury news after few players return

PITTSBURGH, PA — The Pittsburgh Steelers had a much better injury report on day two of practice than they did earlier in the week as they prepare for their Week 16 game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Steelers had nine players miss or be limited in practice to begin the practice week. On day two, the list was whittled down to just four players.

Quarterback Kenny Pickett (ankle) and guard Isaac Seumalo (shoulder) were both limited for the second day in a row, while safeties Minkah Fitzpatrick (knee) and Trent Thompson (neck) did not play.

Steelers Get Massive Boost with Positive Injury Report

Pickett will have another day to demonstrate his progress before the team decides on his availability against the Bengals, according to head coach Mike Tomlin. Mason Rudolph is the starter right now.

Fitzpatrick has already been ruled out for the Steelers’ Week 16 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Thompson is unlikely to play after missing two days of work, forcing the team to rely on practice squad member Eric Rowe and cornerback Patrick Peterson as starters.

Running back Najee Harris (knee), safety Elijah Riley (ankle), offensive tackle Broderick Jones (ankle), tight end Pat Freiermuth (knee), and defensive tackle Cam Heyward (concussion) were all absent from practice yesterday.

Before releasing their final injury report, the Steelers will hold one more practice. Riley must be activated from injured reserve and Heyward must be cleared of concussion protocol by Friday.
