Chiefs Injury Report for AFC Championship Game versus Ravens

The Kansas City Chiefs returned to practice on Thursday as they prepare to face the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship Game.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid updated the media on the latest injury news before to practice. Four players remain out, while two crucial players on each side of the ball return to football practices after missing the day before.

“As far as the injuries go, Skyy Moore won’t practise today,” Reid said in a statement. “Derrick Nnadi will not practise. (Isiah) Pacheco completed the walkthrough but will not practise. Joe Thuney will not practise today. “Everyone else will leave.”

Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid confirmed that S Mike Edwards (concussion) would be back on the practice pitch Thursday. It appears he is on track to clear the NFL’s return-to-play protocols (learn more about them here) ahead of Sunday’s game against the Ravens. Chiefs RG Trey Smith (illness) is also slated to return to practice.

Did LB Willie Gay Jr. experience a setback?

Kansas City Chiefs News

Chiefs LB Willie Gay Jr. was a late addition to last week’s injury report and left Sunday’s game against the Buffalo Bills early. He was limited in practice on Wednesday owing to a neck issue.

“His neck is stiff,” Chiefs Head Coach Andy Reid told reporters. “He simply cannot turn it right now. It’s improving, but that’s what happened in the game. However, it was not working. Yes, things grew worse during the game.”

Gay Jr. is set to practise again on Thursday, but it’s unknown whether he’ll be hindered by the neck issue.

“He’s a big part of our defence,” Reid added. “I would not disparage Drue (Tranquill) for the work he done. Willie is a good player. “He’s contributed to our success.”

Right now, the coaching staff does not appear to have a firm answer about his availability for the upcoming week.

“I don’t know where we’ll be right now,” Chiefs defensive coordinator Steve Spagnuolo said about Gay Jr.’s injury. “He adds a piece in passing downs.”

Updates on Joe Thuney and Prince Tega Wanogho

Chiefs start LG. Joe Thuney remained out from practice due to a right pec issue. It will be difficult for him to practise at all this week, which usually results in a player being ruled out under Andy Reid, but I’m told Thuney is one of the few veterans the squad would trust to play without practicing all week. While Thuney is unlikely to be ready in time for the AFC championship game, the training team will give him every chance to prove otherwise.
