Tennessee’s Top Five Prominent Players Recruiting Trail

The Tennessee Volunteers now have six commits for the 2025 class, including five-star quarterback George MacIntyre. Who’s next?

The Tennessee Volunteers received significant news on Monday morning when Brentwood Academy quarterback George MacIntyre chose them over Alabama. They had planned to build around him as the cornerstone of their 2025 recruiting class, and now that he’s on board, they’ve gained a lot of high-profile prospects.

According to 247Sports, the Vols have the No. 9 recruiting class in 2025. There are still several top priority out there, as Tennessee just has six commitments. Head coach Josh Heupel has been adamant about increasing the University of Tennessee’s recruiting standards, and they have a chance at an outstanding recruiting class with in-state talent on the board.

David Sanders Jr., OT

David Sanders Jr., Providence Day’s offensive tackle, has been in the national spotlight since his freshman season. He is the No. 2 talent in 2025, with three SEC programs at the forefront of his recruitment: Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee. Tennessee hopes to have him back on campus soon, and having an excellent passer in his recruiting class will certainly help. Sanders and MacIntyre met on a recruiting trip to Alabama and have been in touch since.

Cameron Sparks, WR

Cameron Sparks, a Baylor wide receiver, is the No. 2 prospect in Tennessee and the No. 40 prospect nationally. Sparks has been approached about playing both sides of the football in college, but Tennessee wants him to play wide receiver. He’s familiar with MacIntyre because they play in the same high school level and have competed frequently throughout the years.

Ethan Utley, DL

Ethan Utley, an Ensworth defensive lineman, had a strong junior season, finishing with 21 tackles, 10 TFLs, and 4.5 sacks. On Christmas Day, he announced a top five that included Michigan, Oklahoma, Syracuse, Tennessee, and Texas, and the Vols have been a consistent presence in this one. He has a close relationship with defensive line coach Rodney Garner and has traveled to Tennessee more than any other program.

Marcus Harris, WR.

Tennessee has been to California multiple times during the Heupel era, and the Vols are very appealing to prospects who do not mind playing a long distance from home. Marcus Harris, a Mater Dei wide receiver, is one of these prospects, having caught 43 passes for 644 yards and six touchdowns this season. He visited Knoxville for the first time over the weekend and spent time with MacIntyre. Tennessee’s offensive staff stood out on the trip, and Harris should be back on campus soon.
