LATEST NEWS: Warriors coach reveal two players to sign and improve their defense

There’s no way around it: the Golden State Warriors must make a deal at the trade deadline. The team hasn’t been able to string together enough wins to make the play-ins, so they’re currently on the outside looking in. One way to start is with defense.

Golden State Warriors general manager Mike Dunleavy Jr. discussed the club’s defense and what the team may be searching for at the trade deadline.

“The last 10 or 15 games, our defense has really struggled, and getting Draymond back I think will help,” Dunleavy said in a statement. “However, the trade deadline can make it difficult to bring in a guy or players that will significantly strengthen your defense. If such player is available, we’ll look at it, but I believe it must come from within. That comes from everyone, coaches and players alike, and it’s all part of the process of tightening things up and finding ways to improve defensively. Frankly, offensively, we’ve been fantastic.”

“If we can kinda get this defensive stuff right, we feel like the offense, taking care of the ball better, guys are emerging like JK, we can be in good shape,” Dunleavy went on to say. “We could be in good shape, but we gotta put it all together, and we got to get going here.”

The Warriors walk a delicate line between having some promising young players and having some elderly players who may need to move aside. However, completely dismantling the team may upset Steph Curry, which is the last thing this organization wants to accomplish.
