Unlike many other schools, Michigan has not had rapid entry into the transfer portal. So far, the Wolverines have kept their squad together as they prepare for the College Football Playoff.
Michigan currently has only one scholarship player in the transfer portal, running back CJ Stokes. Sam Staruch, a walk-on, has also entered the portal.
The Wolverines, on the other hand, now have a second running back to enter the transfer portal.
Running back on a walk-on basis Leon Franklin said that he will be transferring but would remain with Michigan during the College Football Playoff.
Franklin has been a member of the Wolverines since 2021 and has appeared in 29 games. He had eight carries for 33 yards in 2021. He carried the ball four times for nine yards in 2022. Franklin also had 11 carries for 33 yards and a touchdown in 2023. In 2022, he also had a receiving score.
The Wolverines are loaded at running back, and Michigan will add two more in the 2024 cycle. Franklin is most likely seeking for a new team where he can get more playing time.
Franklin still has two years of eligibility left.
