BREAKING: Crimson Tide Stuns Gators 7–4 in Thriller — Vandagriff Delivers Game-Winning Hit
TUSCALOOSA, AL — April 19, 2025 — The Alabama Crimson Tide came up big under pressure Friday night, knocking off the Florida Gators 7–4 in a thrilling SEC battle, thanks to a clutch late-inning hit from Colby Vandagriff.
With the score tied in the bottom of the 8th and the crowd on edge, Vandagriff stepped into the batter’s box and smashed a bases-clearing double that flipped the game on its head. The hit brought home three runs and sent Sewell–Thomas Stadium into a frenzy.
“That was a moment you dream about,” Vandagriff said. “I just stayed locked in and trusted my swing.”
Florida couldn’t recover, and Tide closer Alton Davis II shut the door in the 9th, sealing the win with a pair of strikeouts.
The victory pushes Alabama to 27–11 overall and 10–7 in SEC play, while Florida slips to 24–14 (9–8 SEC). The two powerhouses square off again Saturday night in Game 2 of the series.
