Breaking News: Denzel Aberdeen Transfers to Kentucky, Bolsters Backcourt

The Kentucky Wildcats have added a major piece to their backcourt for the upcoming season, landing former Florida Gator guard Denzel Aberdeen through the transfer portal.

Aberdeen, a 6-foot-5 senior, brings with him not only size and versatility, but also championship experience. He played a key role in Florida’s 2024-25 national title run, averaging 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists over 39 games. His standout performances included 20-point outings against both Mississippi State and South Carolina.

Known for his ability to play both guard positions, Aberdeen offers Kentucky a veteran presence and defensive strength that will complement their younger talent. With his commitment, Kentucky has now filled all 13 scholarship spots for the 2025-26 season—though roster changes could still occur with NBA Draft declarations or late transfers.

Head coach Mark Pope has praised the addition, calling Aberdeen a “proven winner” and a “perfect cultural fit” for the program. Fans are already buzzing, excited about what Aberdeen’s leadership and energy could bring to the court in Lexington.

With Aberdeen in the mix, the Wildcats are looking stronger than ever heading into next season.
