Tim Sheens, the coach of the Wests Tigers, was asked to the team’s end-of-season presentation night, where his career would be honored, but he declined the invitation.
Sheens, who made headlines in 2005 by winning the joint venture an NRL premiership, was notified in August that his services would not be needed the following year.
It’s obvious that Sheens wasn’t pleased with the way club authorities handled him personally after Benji Marshall was thrust into the leadership position a full year ahead of schedule. The Tigers ‘earned’ another wooden spoon after only winning four games this season, and he brushed off the presentation event on Tuesday at the William Inglis Hotel at Warwick Farm.
Unbeknownst to Sheens, Scott Fulton was also appointed as the team’s new director of recruitment. Following his celebration at a Panthers Old Boys event last weekend, the 72-year-old raised eyebrows.
