BREAKING NEWS: Tragedy in Alabama — Fuel Tanker Explodes, 63 Burned to Death; Pregnant Woman Seriously Injured and Rushed to Hospital
Alabama, April 28, 2025 — A massive tragedy unfolded early Monday morning when a fuel tanker exploded in a densely populated area in central Alabama, leaving at least 63 people burned to death and several others injured.
Authorities say the explosion occurred shortly after 6:30 a.m. local time near a residential neighborhood, triggering a massive fire that quickly spread to nearby homes and vehicles. Firefighters and emergency response teams rushed to the scene, battling flames for several hours before gaining control.
Among the survivors, a pregnant woman carrying her unborn child was seriously injured in the blast. She was quickly transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition. Doctors are working urgently to stabilize her and ensure the safety of both mother and baby.
Witnesses described scenes of chaos and horror as flames engulfed the area and people scrambled to escape. “There was a loud boom, then everything shook — windows shattered, and smoke filled the sky,” said one resident who lives two blocks from the explosion.
Officials have yet to confirm the cause of the explosion, but an investigation is currently underway. Local authorities have urged the public to stay clear of the area as cleanup and recovery efforts continue.
Governor Alicia Freeman released a statement offering condolences to the victims’ families and promising a full investigation: “This is a heartbreaking day for Alabama. We mourn those we lost and pray for those still fighting for their lives.”
Emergency shelters have been set up for displaced residents, and a hotline has been established for families seeking information about loved ones.
