This won’t make much sense to those of you who are too young to recall West Side Story. However, the San Jose Sharks are playing again following their bye week and all-star game. The Sharks, who are currently ahead of the Chicago Blackhawks in the NHL, are heating up before the deadline and are no longer sitting plum last. As we approach the last stretch leading up to the trade deadline and the all-star game, it’s time to dust off and get moving.
With Sharks hockey back in action, it’s quite pleasant, and there are plenty of injury updates. Both Mario Ferraro and Mikael Granlund, who have both been out with injury for a while, will be available tonight. It’s always a positive sign when the team’s best defenseman and second-highest scoring forward return. Henry Thrun is still up in the air ahead of tonight, although he might return as well.
The two primary absentees are currently the issue. Following surgery to remove some loose cartilage from his left knee, Tomas Hertl will be out indefinitely. This is problematic because the team’s top producer will be absent for some time. You could probably put up with it if he was the only one, but Logan Couture also had a setback due to a groin issue, so he is out week to week. The two best players on the team are currently out due to horrific injuries.
