JUST IN: Steelers coach reveal a clear and troubling news

Another week, another inactive inside linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Elandon Roberts will miss Sunday’s game against the Seattle Seahawks due to a pectoral injury sustained in the Steelers’ 34-11 victory over Cincinnati on Saturday, according to coach Mike Tomlin.

Roberts could miss the rest of the regular season due to the seriousness of his pectoral ailments. He follows in the footsteps of Cole Holcomb and Kwon Alexander, both of whom were injured and placed on injured reserve in November.

With Roberts sidelined, the Steelers will turn to Mykal Walker, Myles Jack, Blake Martinez, and Mark Robinson to fill the need. Only Robinson, a seventh-round draft pick in 2022, has played the full season.

Walker joined the practice squad on October 30 and has started four of the team’s last six games. Martinez was signed off Carolina’s practice squad on November 21, but he has only made one start in five games. He was a healthy scratch the past two weeks after playing 21 snaps in the Steelers’ defeat to New England.

“Blake has been with us in the stadium before,” Tomlin explained. “It will be less troublesome than the last time we called on him.”

After spending last season with the Steelers, Jack considered retiring after spending a few weeks in training camp with the Eagles. He opted to resume his career on November 20 by joining the practice squad.

Jack was promoted to the active roster for the first time to face Cincinnati on Saturday. With six tackles, Jack finished third on the team. He had two quarterback hurries and a sack.

“He’s a football fan,” Tomlin explained. “He may have been pushing for retirement, but it was most likely due to a lack of opportunity.” When we approached him, it didn’t take him long to consider the opportunity. I’m guessing he was waiting for the phone call.”
