According to multiple sources, the Dallas Cowboys waived former Alabama linebacker Rashaan Evans on Wednesday in order to activate an offensive lineman from injured reserve.
Evans played in nine games with the Cowboys before being arrested in Frisco on Tuesday for possession of 2-4 ounces of marijuana.
After being signed to the practice squad in October, this was his first season with the Cowboys. Evans has only nine tackles for the Dallas defense. He played 49% of the defensive snaps against the Giants in Week 10, but had three tackles against the Commanders in Week 12 and three against the Bills in Week 15.
Before joining the NFC East powerhouse, the 2018 first-round draft pick spent four seasons with the Tennessee Titans and one year with the Atlanta Falcons.
The Dallas Cowboys have now joined the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals, Kansas City Chiefs, Green Bay Packers, New Orleans Saints, and Minnesota Vikings in having no former Alabama players on their roster.
Before joining another football team, the 6-foot-2, six-year veteran must resolve his legal concerns.
