After today’s Round 9 match at Suncorp Stadium between the South Sydney Rabbitohs and the Brisbane Broncos, the National Rugby League (NRL) sent a breach notice to the team.
A $15,000 fine is suggested in the Breach Notice for the following purported NRL Operations Manual violations.
Tevita Tatola, a player for the Rabbitohs, was listed as the starting prop in the final team that the club presented. In the final team list, Hame Sele of the Rabbitohs was listed as an interchange player.In actuality, player Sele took Tatola’s position on the pitch to begin the match.
The Rabbitohs’ Jai Arrow and Davvy Moale entered the field of play from the interchange bench at 53 minutes into the game, taking the places of Tevita Tatola and Tom Burgess, respectively.Player Arrow duly presented his interchange card to the Interchange Official to take Player Tatola’s position on the field of play after he had departed it. Simultaneously, player Moale entered the field of play and gave the Rabbitohs Official his interchange card in error. Player Moale failed to give the Interchange Official his interchange card as required by the exchange procedure.
