The Bucks have not made an official statement, but they did share Antetokounmpo’s message on X. The Bucks’ later-deleted repost featured the statement, “The best possible cure for the Mondays”.
The extension begins with the 2025-26 season, putting Antetokounmpo under contract for at least four more years – and potentially five if he so desires. He will earn around $94.4 million over the next two seasons, with an additional $120 million in 2025-26 and 2026-27.
Antetokounmpo’s announcement came as the Minnesota Timberwolves’ Jaden McDaniels, the Washington Wizards’ Deni Avdija, and the Orlando Magic’s Cole Anthony lead the first wave of fourth-year players to sign contract extensions ahead of the NBA deadline.
