For the first time since announcing on Monday that his son, offensive coordinator Brian Ferentz, will not be staying on after the 2023 season, Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz met with the media on Tuesday.
The in-season change, according to Kirk Ferentz, is different from how he has always managed his coaching staff.
“Well, over the past 25 years, I’ve made an effort to work only with the intention of serving the program’s needs, which primarily consists of the players and everyone who works here. That’s my primary duty,” he declared. “My practice and ideas have remained largely the same. We usually go through the season and then conduct a comprehensive program evaluation thereafter. The announcement made yesterday was undoubtedly a change from that procedure.
He responded, “You move on,” when asked how the squad will maintain concentration in the face of this announcement. You simply ignore it and move on. Like anything else, it will become a distraction if you let it to.
