Chris Drury, the president and general manager of the New York Rangers, announced today that the team and goaltender Hugo Ollas have reached an agreement on a two-year, entry-level contract.
Throughout the season, Ollas, 21, had 21 appearances for the Merrimack College Warriors, recording a 2.84 goals-against average and a.908 save percentage.
During his three seasons and sixty-four games with the Warriors, the native of Linköping, Sweden finished with a 27-27 record, 2.48 goals against average, a.914 save percentage, and six shutouts. He finished the 2022–2023 season with a 10–9 record, a.915 save percentage, and five shutouts.
The 6-7, 220 pound goalie played in 11 games in 2020–21 with Linköping HC J20 of J20 Nationell and Linköping HC of the Swedish Hockey League before coming to Merrimack. He also participated in international competition for the Swedish U17 squad.
The Rangers originally selected Ollas in the seventh round of the 2020 NHL Entry Draft, 197th overall.
