“I have decided to resign from my position with Auburn football in order to pursue other opportunities, after taking some time to pray and reflect.” I have the utmost affection for Auburn, the players, and the AU community, but my wife, my sons, and I need to make this decision. I owe a huge debt of gratitude to Coaches Malzahn and Freeze for granting me the opportunity to coach. It’s hard to describe the fantastic last five years. After Bryan Harsin was fired midseason, Williams took over as Auburn’s interim coach for the final four games of the previous season. The team finished with a 2-2 record, which included a thrilling victory over Texas A&M.
Etheridge has been a part of the program since 2021 and, like Williams, was an Auburn player. On Friday morning, he sent Williams a similar message:
