(CNN) —The Detroit Lions have dismissed Cameron Sutton, who is now wanted in Florida for alleged domestic violence by strangulation, according to the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office.

The sheriff’s office sought to reach Sutton for two weeks before asking for help on social media. Sutton has properties in Lutz, 15 miles north of Tampa, and Pinellas County.

Law enforcement officials say they have been unable to locate him at his residences and are unsure whether he has fled the state.

The Lions released Sutton on Thursday, as announced on X.

On March 7, deputies rushed to his Lutz home shortly before 5 a.m. ET following a “verbal altercation that turned physical,” according to sheriff’s office spokesperson Phil Martello.

Martello reported that the female victim was battered and had injuries on her head, neck, and upper body.

Sutton’s representative has yet to react to CNN’s request for comment.
