R(CNN) — Rashee ice, a Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, surrendered to law enforcement in Texas on Thursday evening in connection with a six-car crash last month, according to police. He later posted bond and was released from jail.

Rice, 23, surrendered to Glenn Heights police and was processed at a regional jail in DeSoto, according to Dallas police. The Chiefs player later bailed out of jail, a DeSoto city spokesperson told CNN Thursday night. Rice’s surety bond was $40,000, according to jail records.

Knox surrendered to Glenn Heights police on Friday, according to a Dallas police statement. Police reported that the 21-year-old was being processed at a local jail.

SMU has suspended Knox from the football team.

Rice, who helped his team win the Super Bowl two months ago, and Knox will each face one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injury, and six charges of collision involving injury, Dallas police said.

CNN has contacted the Chiefs for comment. According to an NFL representative, “We continue to monitor developments in the matter.”

Last month’s incident included six automobiles in total, according to officials.

“The Lamborghini traveled onto the shoulder and hit the center median wall, causing a chain reaction collision involving four other vehicles,” spokesperson Kristin Lowman told CNN last week.

“The occupants of the Lamborghini and the Corvette all ran from the scene without stopping to determine if anyone needed medical help or providing their information.”

Four people from other vehicles were treated for injuries, Lowman said.

Rice’s counsel has stated that his client was driving the Lamborghini. Dallas police verified on Wednesday that the second man was driving the Corvette. According to authorities, none of the Corvette or Lamborghini passengers will face charges in connection with the incident.

After the crash, Rice texted a message to the company that rented him the fancy car.
